history;
little is known of mikage's early history. he is a god of marriage, who binds the fates of his worshipers. being a god who fears dogs, he doesn't have what is considered a 'common' familiar. rather, he met tomoe, a fox who was dying over a love for a human and saved him - sealing the memories of his love and making him his familiar.

twenty years prior to the start of the story, mikage left his shrine and failed to return. upon returning to his home, he is chased up a tree by a dog in town, where he is saved by nanami. they speak for a while, where nanami confesses that her father abandoned her and she lost her home - to which mikage offers her his home and, unbeknownst to her, gives her his title as land god.

and then he disappears again.

but that's not the last of him. there are times when he is seen as a butterfly, watching over nanami and the shrine and supporting her when she needs that extra push.

mikage is known for his loving personality; truly caring for the humans.

he fears dogs, but little else scares him. his normal demeanor is very calm and relaxed.

he is protective of his shrine and tomoe. he cares and worries for tomoe, though he doesn't always show these traits to tomoe. mikage doesn't hesitate to nag tomoe or scold him.

where nanami is concerned, he acts as a mentor or teacher of sorts for her.
